HELPFUL ANSWERS
Questions about swapping?
Here is how the community, credit system, and booking flow work in practice.
Does SkillSwap cost money?+
No. SkillSwap uses time credits only. You start with two free credits, earn a credit for each hour you teach, and spend a credit for each hour you learn.
Do I have to offer a skill before I can learn?+
No. Your two welcome credits allow you to request your first two hours right away. We hope you will teach eventually so the exchange stays generous and balanced.
What happens if a session does not happen?+
Do not confirm it. Credits only transfer when the teacher and learner each confirm completion. If plans change, either person can cancel before the session is confirmed.
How do I choose a teacher?+
Read each listing closely, use category and level filters, and look at completed swaps and ratings once a member has them. You can discuss a time before accepting a request.
Can I teach in person?+
Yes. SkillSwap leaves the meeting format to members. Use the listing description and session request to agree on a safe, practical arrangement.
What should I do if there is a dispute?+
Keep communication in writing where possible and do not confirm a session you believe did not happen as agreed. SkillSwap’s dual confirmation keeps the credit from moving while you resolve it.
